Hit Songwriter, Wood Newton, stopped into the NSAI studio recently and told us the story behind his David Ball hit, “Riding With Private Malone”, written by Wood along with Thom Shepherd. The song was released a month before the September 11th terrorist attacks and although completely unrelated, subtly and profoundly captured the mood of the country at precisely the right moment. "Riding With Private Malone" went to the #1 slot on the Gavin charts and held the #2 position at Billboard and R&R.
